Next Early Stage Memory Loss Support Group

The early stage support group is a concurrently running, 6-week educational program for families and people in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia offered in the Fall and Spring.

The caregiver section will cover: overview of memory loss & related symptoms, communication strategies, dealing with changing roles & relationships, planning for the future & effective ways of coping & caring.

The early stage memory loss concurrently running group is for people in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease who wish to participate and who will not require medical assistance during the program. Persons must be aware of their diagnosis of memory loss.

This 6-part series is facilitated based on the needs of the individuals attending. We focus on having fun, communicating, providing education and support. Although sessions are free, you must register in advance for this program by completing a brief interview with a Family Care Consultant. Please call 602-528-0545 to find out the dates & locations for the next series."

WHY ATTEND A SUPPORT GROUP?
Attending a support group is often difficult at first. It takes time to feel comfortable sharing your problems with people you do not know. However, the experience of many family members is that once they opened up, they found that their problems were not so different from those of other support group members. Suddenly, the people they were sharing with were not strangers at all, and by sharing with others in the same situation they felt less alone. A support group can also help you feel more in control of your life and the disease, by helping you to understand more about the disease
