The Desert Southwest Chapter Southern Nevada Region is delighted to announce our 5th Annual Southern Nevada Caregiver Education Conference set for March 20th, 2008 at our new location, Circus Circus Hotel and Casino. This annual intensive educational program provides the latest information in Alzheimer's care and research, for both professional and family caregivers.

This year's caregiver conference will include keynote presentations by LeAnn Thieman, nationally acclaimed author of several books including Chicken Soup for the Caregiver’s Soul (more information can be found here), and local physician, Dr. Charles Bernick, who has directed the development of a statewide network of Alzheimer’s disease care, with clinics in Las Vegas, Reno and Elko. In addition to co-authoring numerous scientific articles, Dr. Bernick has participated in studies of virtually every medication now available for Alzheimer’s disease.

The conference will also include sessions on such topics as: dealing with behaviors, sexuality and intimacy, current studies and trials in the field of Alzheimer’s and more!

Registration for this conference are $35.00 for family caregivers and $50.00 for professionals. There is an additional $10.00 charge for professionals seeking C.E.U.’s.

Our registration fees cover the cost of putting on the event, the speakers and the informational text that each registrant receives. However, if you are a family caregiver unable to pay the fee, please check with our regional office, as scholarships are available."
