The Alzheimer's Association Desert Southwest's Helpline is a toll-free number that you can call 24-hours a day, 7 days a week to get information about Alzheimer's disease. Through our National office, we have the ability to serve individuals in 140 different languages by accessing translation services.
Call 1-800-272-3900 to speak with a trained Helpline specialist, many of whom are former caregivers themselves, who will provide emotional support and appropriate referrals to local resources in your area.
All calls are kept confidential.
The Helpline can provide answers to your questions:
- Current information on Alzheimer's disease, treatment options and research.
- Tools and practical information about disease progression, management and education.
- Contact information and referrals to doctors, home care, nursing homes, respite care and more.
- Information about long-term care planning, insurance issues, and legal and financial issues.
- Access to Alzheimer's Association-sponsored support groups.
- Information on how to manage challenging behaviors such as wandering, anger, denial, repetition, paranoia, delusions and combativeness.
- Ways to improve relationships with the person with Alzheimer's and other family members through communication tips.
- Help with balancing work and home life on top of caregiving responsibilities.
- Advocacy and information on self-advocacy for quality care and access to services.
