Forget-Me-Not Sunday
April 18th, 2004 - Mark your Calendar!
A look at last year...
April 18th was the scene of
a remarkable afternoon of gourmet cuisine, live music, and a selection of
unique live and silent auction items which helped
provide support to the Desert Southwest Chapter’s programs and services.
The Eighth Annual Forget-Me-Not Sunday was held at
Tucson’s Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort, recipient of numerous awards
including “Top U.S. Restaurants, Hotels & Spas” in the 2002 Zagat Survey, “Top
10 Romantic Inns” by the American Historic Inns, and “One Of The Great Inns In
The USA and Best In All Of Arizona” by the National Geographic Traveler.
Featured restaurants included Gavi Italian Restaurant,
voted Best Italian Restaurant in Tucson for the past three years in a row;
Barrio, an upbeat bistro serving contemporary cuisine; The Grill,
named Best Grill, Best Romantic Dining, Best Dining With A View, Best Sunday
Brunch, Best for Out-Of-Town Guests, and Best American in Tucson Lifestyle
Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards; A Perfect Occasion Gourmet Catering,
creator of personal dining experiences; and The Cottage Bakery & Café,
an intimate café with some of the best original meals and bakery products in the
southwest.
Live and Silent Auction items at Forget-Me-Not Sunday are always
memorable.
Tucsons Hacienda
del Sol Guest Ranch Resortwith its desert setting, Pueblo-Revival
architecture and rich historyprovides the perfect backdrop for the Forget-Me-Not
Sunday event.
Built in 1929 by John Murphey, with later renovations designed by the
notable Josias Joesler, the lodge has a rustic charm that illustrates the enduring style
Tucson. Joesler traveled extensively throughout his early career and spent a great deal of
time in Spain. His travels helped him to develop his eclectic style, and the Santa
Fe/Spanish colonial look of Hacienda del Sol was an additional inspiration.
The elements of the Haciendas delightful inner courtyardopen
and airy, with colorful tiles, hand-painted murals, fruit trees, fountain and spectacular
outdoor fireplaceis the perfect setting for a sophisticated, yet simple
buffet
and an exciting live auction.
